Daejeon Museum Gardens
22,680 hand cast encaustic crayons
15 individual panels (35.25 x 58.5in)
This 15 panel work is composed of ~22,500 individually placed hand-cast encaustic crayons and is based on photo that I took in the gardens of the Daejeon Art Museum during my time in South Korea. My use of the crayons-as-pixel give the work a unique 3 dimensional quality which changes the nature of the image as one moves around the space. The final image aesthetic of this technique is reminiscent of embroidery or needlepoints. You can view other works on my website to see how this piece fit in with similar works I have done in the past
