As an admirer of the British contemporary artist Damien Hirst, Chris wouldn’t mind owning one of Hirst’s spot paintings. It doesn’t have to be one of the massive works – even a half-a-spot painting would do. In lieu of cold hard cash for the spots, Chris has pieced together a twelve-panel likeness of Damien Hirst covered with random crayon spots that he’d gladly bestow on Mr. Hirst. When he first posted this work on Instagram in July, 2019 with #TradingDots and aimed it @damienhirst, it was viewed by thousands – with the notable exception of Damien. While he’s awaiting a response from the Hirst team, Chris is enjoying his homage to Mr. Hirst in his own cheerful living room. Although parting with it may be bittersweet, he’s looking forward to mounting one of Damien’s works in its place – any one of them will do. He’s not going to dicker over which spot painting he receives, as long as it’s signed by the dotmeister himself.
