Each of the 14 panels holds just over 2,100 crayons, brining the total number of crayons created and assembled for this piece to about 30,000.
I wanted to create something that directly referenced our city and the skyline itself seemed to me the most simple way to do this. The act of “drawing your house” using crayons when one is very young is something we have all done. This work is my way of recreating what I now consider “my home” these past 17 years with those same crayons.
Columbus has been a place where works of many young artist have thrived and so it seemed appropriate to make the city itself out of crayons to show how much support Columbus has given to its artists and arts communities.
